Our Services
ID Forensics has a cutting edge lab for the forensic analysis of digital evidence and there are many services that we are able to offer. We specialize in video forensics, audio forensics, still image analysis, device forensics, the analysis of firearms in multimedia evidence, and digital evidence recovery.
Video Forensics
Scientifically examining, enhancing, and evaluating video evidence from various sources to determine authenticity, clarify details, determine speed and distance, and provide expert opinions and testimony.
Enhancement
Forensic video analysis is the scientific examination, comparison, and/or evaluation of video in legal matters. We are able to enhance and analyze videos of all sources including surveillance videos and CCTV videos, cell phone videos, videos found or recovered from online sources (such as Facebook, YouTube, or Instagram), dash camera videos, police body-worn camera video, MVARS videos from police vehicles, and more. We can also recover, enhance and analyze surveillance videos from any surveillance system, including online cloud-based surveillance.
Analysis
We analyze video evidence to determine the authenticity and integrity of video evidence, we can enhance and clarify these videos, we prepare exhibits for court, write forensic reports, and are available to testify as needed. Using a variety of techniques accepted within the forensic community, we are able to clarify details of an incident, compare unknown to known persons or objects, better see what happened in a video, and we can help to determine the details of a case from what is visible in the video evidence
Enhancement
Using photogrammetry we can measure the distance and size of people and objects, we can determine the speed of vehicles or people, or we can determine the height of a person seen in a video.
Audio Forensics
Audio forensics is the scientific analysis of audio recordings for legal purposes. We can enhance and analyze audio recordings from virtually any source to determine authenticity as well as clarify what is heard or said. We can recover and analyze recordings from phones, handheld digital recorders, wiretap recordings, hidden surveillance devices, and more. We can also clarify and analyze audio tracks contained in videos, audio recordings from digital audio recorders (and similar devices), cell phone recordings, voice messages from calls, and even old recordings from cassette tapes (or older!).

Still Image Analysis
Still images are used as evidence regularly and are extremely prevalent in today’s society. These include images taken by cell phones and cameras, screenshots and extracted frames from videos, images captured from online sources, and more. The analysis and/or enhancement of these images may be vital for a case in determining what is visible (or not visible) in the image or whether or not the image is a “camera original” copy or if it has been altered, manipulated, or faked. Photogrammetry may also be possible to determine the size or position of a person or object.

Device Forensics
Device forensics includes the analysis of evidence found on a variety of mobile devices such as cell phones, tablets, handheld GPS units, drones, and more. We are able to recover data from these devices, analyze the data, and prepare it for court by creating reports and exhibits for whatever is found (and sometimes not found or deleted) on the device. Sometimes, we can also recover deleted data such as deleted images or deleted videos, deleted text messages, or more. Device forensics also allows us to determine where a device has been by analyzing its location data. We can also extract and analyze a device’s web browsing data, application usage, text messages, emails, pictures, videos, and look for evidence of malware, spyware, or tampering of the device.

Firearms in Multimedia Evidence
Digital multimedia evidence (such as videos, still images, or audio recordings) sometimes has firearms or alleged firearms. These cases include murders, assaults, robberies, terror attacks, and more. The analysis of the multimedia evidence of the use of a firearm may be critical in determining whether or not a firearm was used or how it was used. By enhancing and analyzing the evidence, we may be able to determine the make or model of the firearm, when or how it is concealed, whether or not is was drawn from concealment or a holster, gunshot analysis, muzzle flashes analysis, recoil analysis, and the analysis of the audio waveform and spectrogram of the audible gunshots. By analyzing all these details data may be provided as to how a firearm may have been used, or perhaps we may find support that no firearm was used at all.

Digital Evidence Recovery
It is often possible to recover deleted data and files from a variety of devices such as hard drives, flash drives, SD Cards, and more. Deleting files from these media formats and devices, and even the formatting of such drives, often leaves behind files that may be recoverable.
